A former moving company subcontractor was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida, after allegedly stealing Tiffany flatware worth $64,000 while working for A1 Moving & Storage. Brittney Paugh, 27, was taken into custody on Friday for selling the stolen goods, which investigators say she took from homes during moving jobs.
The case began on December 23, when a woman reported her Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Flemish Flatware missing after hiring A1 Moving & Storage to handle her move. Upon unpacking her belongings, she noticed the flatware was gone. On January 10, the victim received a call from a Jupiter police detective, who was investigating a similar case involving missing jewelry and the same moving company.
A search of pawn shop records revealed that Paugh had sold Tiffany flatware at Lake Worth Gold Mine on December 11 for just $2,000—well below its retail value of $64,000. The pawn shop owner identified Paugh from a photo lineup and noted that Paugh had been selling jewelry to the business for years. Paugh allegedly told the shop owner that the flatware belonged to her grandmother.
With this evidence, law enforcement booked Paugh on charges of grand theft over $20,000 and dealing in stolen property.
