KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Knox County woman was arrested Thursday morning after being accused of selling items online and failing to deliver them.
Brittany Lusk is facing charges of theft and using a computer to commit a crime, with the alleged offenses dating back to October, according to her arrest warrant.
Court records show that a victim ordered several household goods from Lusk and sent $361 via Cash App. When the items were never delivered, the victim attempted to contact Lusk. In their last exchange, Lusk reportedly told the victim she didn’t have the items and refused to refund the money.
In late December, 10News received numerous emails from people claiming they had sent money to Lusk for items that were never delivered. The amounts ranged from $100 to over $500. Many people had seen Lusk’s posts on Facebook advertising items such as Stanley cups, Nike shoes, Lululemon clothing, and more, often at discounted prices. As the holiday season approached, concern grew among buyers.
Courtney Roberts, one of the victims, said she sent Lusk $406 for Christmas gifts for her family and child. 10News uncovered several police reports confirming similar complaints of Lusk taking money without fulfilling orders.
Additionally, Lusk faces charges for using someone’s Social Security number and other personal details to take out loans in a separate case. She is currently on diversion for that case, meaning her behavior will determine whether the case is dismissed.
