YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Detectives with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement, arrested two women on Nov. 6 after a search uncovered a large quantity of drugs and a firearm, authorities said.
Brittany Leigh Boyd, 31, and Wenona Dawn Todd, 41, were taken into custody at the Hamptonville Gas and Grocery after Boyd was served with a civil process. During the encounter, investigators identified Todd as the passenger and confirmed she had an outstanding warrant for larceny.
A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed 99 grams of methamphetamine, 10 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of marijuana, U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia, and a concealed handgun, according to law enforcement officials.
Boyd faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and trafficking in controlled substances. Authorities said she is being held without bond due to prior charges.
Todd has been charged with conspiracy to traffic controlled substances and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver controlled substances. She received a $5,000 secured bond on the larceny warrant and is also being held without bond on the new charges.
Both women were scheduled to make their first appearance in Yadkin County District Court on Nov. 12. As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
