TAMIAMI, Fla. – A four-hour SWAT standoff ended in the arrest of 33-year-old Brice Martinez, who now faces three counts of child abuse following a violent incident inside a Miami-Dade apartment on June 7th.
Authorities say the incident occurred in a Tamiami residence, where Martinez allegedly assaulted his three children, aged 2, 5, and 8. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed the charges after Martinez was taken into custody.
Martinez appeared in court the following day before Judge Mindy Glazer, who described the arrest report as “pretty violent.”
“He slammed the 5-year-old’s head against a wall three times,” Judge Glazer read, “causing a large laceration that required five staples. The child was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury.”
The court document also described how Martinez allegedly threw a 2-year-old onto a concrete floor, causing back pain, and then punched an 8-year-old who tried to protect his younger sibling.
Martinez was denied bond and remains jailed until his next court appearance.
Court records indicate Martinez is also a fugitive from Broward County, where he faces domestic violence charges.
