FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — A man was arrested after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase that ended when his vehicle ran out of gas, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested 37-year-old Brian Hall of Auberry over the weekend on felony charges of evading police and assault with a firearm.
The incident began Saturday morning around 7:30 a.m., when deputies responded to a report of a shooting on the 33000 block of Auberry Road. At the scene, they found a woman with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital for treatment. Investigators later confirmed that Hall was the shooter, and that he knew the victim.
Later that evening, a Fresno Police helicopter (Air 1) located a white Chevrolet Tahoe matching Hall’s vehicle. Ground units moved in to stop the SUV, but Hall refused to pull over. Deputies say he ran multiple red lights and drove at speeds of up to 100 mph, prompting a high-speed pursuit.
Air 1 illuminated the vehicle with a spotlight to alert other drivers. The chase ended near Auberry and Millerton roads, where Hall’s vehicle ran out of gas. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Hall now faces multiple felony charges and is being held in custody pending court proceedings.
