TUSCOLA COUNTY, Mich. — A Tuscola County man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his 1-year-old son.
Brian Elswick, 28, was convicted of felony murder, first-degree child abuse, and lying to police in connection with the February 2024 death of his infant son.
Emergency responders were called to a home in Ellington Township, near Caro, for a medical emergency involving the child. The toddler died two days later from a traumatic head injury, according to investigators.
Prosecutors expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the trial and the life sentence imposed. In addition to the life term, Elswick faces further charges that could carry more than 70 years if convicted.
