DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. —
A Greendale man has been arrested on multiple felony theft and fraud charges following a three-month investigation into stolen funds from a local civic organization, according to the Indiana State Police.
Detectives say Brett A. Hamilton, 46, was taken into custody on October 10, 2025, after investigators alleged he stole thousands of dollars from the Dillsboro Civic Club while serving as its president.
Detective Tim Denby of the Special Investigations Section launched the probe in July 2025 after suspicions arose that Hamilton had been using club funds for personal gain between 2018 and 2025.
Following the investigation, the case was turned over to the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office, which filed multiple felony charges including Theft, Fraud, Money Laundering, Corrupt Business Influence, and Official Misconduct.
Hamilton was arrested without incident in Lawrenceburg and booked into the Dearborn County Jail, pending his initial court appearance.
Detective Denby received assistance from other Indiana State Police–Versailles Post detectives and the Dearborn County Prosecutor’s Office.
