GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – The deaths of two young teens due to fentanyl overdoses have led to the arrest of three individuals involved in the distribution of fentanyl-laced drugs in Gwinnett County.
On January 27, a 14-year-old boy tragically died from a fentanyl overdose in Norcross. Investigators traced the drugs to Brenda Alfaro-Alvarado, 21, who sold fentanyl-laced Percocets to the teen. She was arrested the following day, January 28, and is facing charges of aggravated involuntary manslaughter, drug distribution, and child cruelty.
The investigation expanded and on February 11, authorities arrested Angel Alexander Nava-Nava, 20, who was identified as the supplier. A search of his home uncovered fentanyl-laced Percocets, additional fentanyl, marijuana, firearms, and cash, leading to additional drug trafficking and firearm charges.
Additionally, a separate case involved a 12-year-old who survived an overdose on January 26. Authorities arrested Antonio Molina Chavez, 20, on January 28 after determining he was responsible for supplying the drugs to the child. Chavez faces charges of drug distribution and child cruelty in connection with the incident.
These arrests highlight the growing concerns over fentanyl-laced drugs and their dangerous impact on the community.
