BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – Olajawon Mason, 32, was sentenced last Friday by a Brazos County judge to 40 years in prison for a series of violent offenses tied to domestic abuse.

Mason was convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assault Family Violence Strangulation with a Previous Conviction, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Prosecutors revealed that in September 2022, shortly after his release from prison, Mason severely beat his girlfriend. This attack followed a 2019 conviction for burglary and assault against the same victim.

After evading authorities for over two years, Mason was arrested in January 2025. Due to the involvement of a deadly weapon, he must serve at least half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office.
