Brandyn Cox Gets 25 Years for Meth Dealing

Operation Last Dance leads to conviction

POSEY CO., Ind. — A Mt. Vernon man will spend the next 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug-related charges in Posey County.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Brandyn Cox was sentenced Wednesday after admitting to Dealing in Methamphetamine and Maintaining a Common Nuisance involving controlled substances. As part of his plea agreement, Cox acknowledged delivering methamphetamine to an undercover informant on two separate occasions.

Cox was among 22 individuals arrested during “Operation Last Dance,” a large-scale undercover drug investigation led by the Posey County Drug Task Force. Authorities noted that Cox was already in custody in another jurisdiction on unrelated charges at the time the operation took place.

Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers said the sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and credited law enforcement for their work in the case.

“This sentence has been a long time coming,” Clowers said. “This result isn’t possible without the proactive efforts of the Posey County Drug Task Force and local law enforcement. I’m grateful for their diligence in removing drugs and drug dealers from our community.”

Local media previously reported on Cox’s past legal troubles, including a 2016 animal cruelty case in which he spoke from jail following his arrest.
