OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Brandon Morissette, 32, has been convicted of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm on school property for the fatal 2023 shooting at Rose State College.

According to District Attorney Vicki Behenna’s office, Morissette was found guilty of shooting 20-year-old Robenie “RJ” Long seven times outside the Humanities building on April 24, 2023. Long died at the scene, and Morissette was taken into custody shortly afterward.

After reviewing evidence, the jury delivered a guilty verdict on both counts and recommended life imprisonment without parole for the murder charge, along with a one-year sentence for the firearm possession.

“I am so thankful for the jury that we had. I was just praying for them as they were leaving to go deliberate,” said Kelly, RJ Long’s mother. “I think they made the right choices. I’m so thankful for our judicial system and thankful for our jurists.”

Formal sentencing for Morissette is scheduled for October 14.
