Phoenix Man Sentenced to Life for Murder of Girlfriend and Young Daughter
Brandon Andres Bautista Torres, 31, was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murders of his girlfriend and her 4-year-old daughter in June 2019, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Torres pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder and one count of manslaughter. He had a documented history of domestic abuse and had previously threatened to kill his girlfriend with a firearm.
Initially, Torres falsely told police that an intruder broke into their home and shot both victims. He claimed he had taken his toddler son to his parents’ home before returning to the crime scene. Later, Torres admitted to struggling with the intruder during which a gun discharged and the intruder fled.
He waited three hours before reporting the crime out of fear of being blamed.
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell called the act “horrific and cowardly” and praised law enforcement and prosecutors for ensuring Torres will spend the rest of his life in prison.
