Boyd County Man Arrested After Armed Robbery at First National Bank

Kurt Gilliam, 26, arrested shortly after attempting to rob Boyd County bank

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. – A Boyd County man was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with an armed robbery at First National Bank on U.S. 60 in Cannonsburg. According to Boyd County Sheriff Jamie Reihs, the incident occurred just before 2 p.m.

Deputies reported that Kurt Gilliam, 26, walked into the bank and handed the clerk a note, demanding money while claiming to have a weapon. After the robbery, Gilliam fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive.

However, officers quickly located Gilliam nearby and arrested him. He has since been charged with robbery and was transported to the Boyd County Detention Center.
