CLARK, S.D. – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced that 36-year-old Bowen Fladland of Clark has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree murder in connection with the death of a Clark resident discovered Tuesday.
Fladland was arrested the same day after authorities found a deceased female at a residence in Clark. He is currently held at the Codington County Jail in Watertown, South Dakota, awaiting a bond hearing.
Attorney General Jackley confirmed that the suspect and victim knew each other, adding, “There is no threat to the public.” He also urged residents to avoid the crime scene to allow investigators to conduct a thorough examination.
The Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is leading the case, assisted by the Clark Police Department. The case will be jointly prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and the Clark County State’s Attorney’s Office.
As always, Fladland is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
KXLG News continues to monitor the case and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
