Boeroepae Jordan, 51, of Atlanta, has been sentenced to three years and five months in prison for defrauding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, less than a year after his release from federal prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia announced.

Jordan applied for an EIDL advance of $5,000 on April 5, 2020, claiming to own a business named A/E Multi-Diamond Entertainment Inc. The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated the business existed only on paper and had no employees. He arranged for a family member to open a business account and requested that the funds be deposited into that account. The SBA complied and deposited the $5,000.

In May 2020, Jordan applied for a $291,250 PPP loan for the same non-existent business, falsely claiming he had 18 employees. He submitted forged IRS documents and altered bank statements to support the application. The SBA approved the loan, and Jordan received the funds on May 20, 2020. He immediately withdrew large amounts of cash, spending it at restaurants, retail stores, nail salons, and furniture stores.

Jordan caused a total loss of $323,433.31 to the SBA.

U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan stated, “Jordan quickly returned to his criminal activity after his release from prison, this time committing fraud to obtain money intended to help individuals and businesses who were suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

This case highlights the ongoing effort to prosecute individuals who exploited the pandemic relief programs for personal gain.
