Two men have been arrested for stealing two truckloads of maize valued at Rs 7.38 lakh, belonging to a farmer named Boddula Srinivas from Kalluru village. The theft took place after Srinivas hired the accused to transport the maize to a poultry farm in Karimnagar on April 23.
The accused, identified as Badavath Santosh from Karimnagar and Abdul Razak from Nizamabad, went missing along with the consignment of 325 quintals of maize. Attempts to contact them failed as both had switched off their phones.
Farmer Srinivas filed a complaint with Narsapur (G) police on May 13. In response, the police formed a special team to investigate. The duo was eventually apprehended while traveling from Bhainsa to Nirmal.
According to Nirmal Superintendent of Police Janaki Sharmila, the suspects admitted to selling the maize near Kamareddy. Police recovered two lorries and three mobile phones used in the crime.
Authorities believe more individuals were involved in the operation and promised further arrests as the investigation continues.
