A BMTC bus driver, Jayaramaiah (depot number 28), has been arrested after running over and killing a mechanic on Hosur Road in Roopena Agrahara.
At approximately 5 pm on Wednesday, the deceased, Syed Jaffer Hussain, 33, a resident of Bommanahalli, was riding his two-wheeler towards Silk Board when the BMTC bus, operating on the Electronics City–Silk Board route, struck him. Police confirmed the driver has been taken into custody as the investigation continues
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to determine the cause—whether negligence, traffic violation, or mechanical failure played a role. Legal proceedings have commenced under relevant road safety and traffic laws.
