BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has arrested 40-year-old Crystal Ann Roberts on charges of abusing an 8-year-old boy, following a thorough investigation.
BCSO initially responded to a child abuse report that prompted detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division to begin their inquiry. Physical evidence gathered at the scene led to initial child abuse charges.
As the investigation progressed, detectives collected additional evidence that resulted in felony charges being filed against Roberts. The investigation was supported by experts from Carolyn’s Kaleidescope Child Advocacy Center.
According to arrest warrants, Roberts allegedly choked the child, caused visible bruising, and threw him against a wall.
Roberts faces charges of misdemeanor child abuse and felony child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury. She is currently being held at the Bladen County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond.
BCSO confirmed that the investigation remains active.
