A local BJP functionary, Navinkumar (36) of Sellandiamman Kovil Street, under Avinashi police station limits in Tiruppur district, has been arrested following serious allegations made by a woman named Anandhi.
According to the complaint, Navinkumar had taken money from Anandhi promising to help her obtain a government tenement at Soolai. When she asked him to return the money, she alleged that he used foul language and caused her to fall by striking her with his car.
Anandhi, who was injured, gave her statement from the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruppur, where she was admitted for treatment. Following her statement, the Avinashi police arrested Navinkumar and remanded him to judicial custody at the Avinashi sub-jail.
An investigation into the incident and the alleged housing scam is currently ongoing.
