BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A Birmingham man was arrested Friday following a reported AT&T cable theft that led to a search and traffic stop in Jefferson County.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were notified around 2:00 p.m. on March 13, 2026, of a possible cable theft in the 1400 block of Warrior Jasper Road. A detective observed a male suspect in a gold Chevrolet Impala near a downed section of AT&T cable. Due to prior cable theft incidents in the area, the detective attempted to investigate, but the suspect allegedly fled.
The vehicle was later located traveling eastbound on U.S. 78. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested the suspect without incident.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Eric Millwood, was found in possession of an electric cutting tool and other burglary tools. Millwood faces charges including first-degree theft of property, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. His total bond was set at $11,000, and he has since been released.
Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
Officials noted that cable theft incidents can disrupt local infrastructure, potentially impacting workers and commuters in the area.
