MIDLAND, Texas — After months of investigation, Billy Arredondo, 44, a convicted felon, has been arrested in connection with a drug distribution case in Midland.
The Midland Violent Crimes Task Force (MVCTF) began investigating Arredondo in March after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip alleging that he was distributing large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine in the area. The tip warned that Arredondo was “destroying homes and families and needs to be stopped.”
On March 25, detectives observed Arredondo and a female companion arriving at a hotel on West Interstate 20, an area known for drug activity. After a brief stay, the two left in a white Hummer. Officers conducted a traffic stop for an expired registration and discovered 1.46 grams of cocaine, marijuana, and a hotel key card in the vehicle. Arredondo also had an outstanding warrant.
An unknown man arrived during the stop and began recording the interaction, while Arredondo and the woman were taken in for questioning. Detectives then identified Arredondo’s hotel room and secured it due to safety concerns.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators searched the hotel room. Further details from the search have not yet been disclosed.
The case remains under investigation.
