A man accused of shooting his mother-in-law in the head in Miami Gardens now faces upgraded charges of attempted first-degree murder. Bilal Ismail, 49, was initially arrested for the shooting, but during a court appearance on Tuesday, the severity of his charges was escalated.
According to court records, the bullet traveled down the victim’s throat and into her abdomen. The incident occurred as Ismail allegedly targeted his mother-in-law in what appears to have been a premeditated attack.
The victim’s daughter testified in court on Wednesday, revealing that Ismail had developed a deep hatred toward her mother. She explained that she had been in a relationship with Ismail for nine years, during which they had two children together. However, the relationship soured when Ismail allegedly began stalking her and placing GPS trackers on her car.
Further, the daughter claimed that Ismail had previously threatened to kill her mother and had made statements indicating his intention to harm her. This chilling revelation sheds light on the alleged motive behind the shooting.
The victim is now recovering, and Ismail’s case continues to unfold as the investigation into the crime progresses.
