Andhra Pradesh’s Eagle Wing successfully apprehended Bikkera Prakash, a 51-year-old smuggler from Rajahmundry, for transporting 22 kg of ganja in a car during a dramatic interception on National Highway‑16 near Nellore’s SVGS College grounds.
Rather than surrender, Prakash attempted a “filmy-style” escape, ramming his vehicle into Constable Pathan Firoz, who sustained injuries and was promptly hospitalized.
Responding swiftly, Circle Inspector K. Sambasiva Rao discharged warning shots, bringing the vehicle to a halt and facilitating Prakash’s arrest.
Prakash’s vehicle and the contraband were seized on the spot. The suspect has prior cases under the NDPS Act across districts like East Godavari, Eluru, and Nellore.
IG of Eagle Cell, R.K. Ravikrishna, lauded the bravery of the officers involved. Meanwhile, senior officials visited the injured constable at the Nellore Government Hospital to ensure proper medical care.
This arrest adds to the impressive drug seizure record of Andhra Pradesh’s anti-narcotics efforts. Under Operations Garuda and Eagle, authorities have seized over 23,000 kg of ganja statewide
