In a devastating turn of events, Bijoy Debbarma was arrested by the Melaghar police for the murder of his younger brother, Amitabh Bachchan Debbarma. The tragic incident unfolded on the evening of February 22, 2025, in the Taibandal Dhanmura area.
Reports suggest that the brothers engaged in a heated argument over the loud noise from a sound box. The altercation quickly escalated, with Bijoy resorting to violence, which tragically ended in the death of Amitabh. Shocked by the turn of events, Bijoy fled the scene, leaving the community stunned and grieving.
The Melaghar police station, in coordination with the Taibandal outpost, launched an immediate manhunt for Bijoy. Their efforts led to his arrest at his wife’s residence in the Mirza area late on Sunday night.
