In a joint operation by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Chhattisgarh Police, interstate criminal Ashish Rai, alias Prince, wanted in multiple robbery cases, was arrested late Monday night at Nautan in Siwan district near the Uttar Pradesh border.
During interrogation, authorities also apprehended his accomplice, Bhanu Pratap Singh, alias Rajiv, from the Siswan police station area in Siwan.
Rai, a resident of Khalwa, was wanted for the July robbery of a white SUV and a cellphone at gunpoint in Bango police station area of Korba, Chhattisgarh. He has over six cases registered against him in Bihar and Delhi, including kidnapping, robbery, and dacoity. Singh, a resident of Chhajwa, Andar, and a government school clerk, was identified as part of an interstate gang involved in stealing two- and four-wheelers.
The operation also led to the recovery of one motorcycle and five cellphones. According to the STF, the July 4 Korba robbery involved four unidentified criminals, with Rai being a key target. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in dismantling the interstate vehicle robbery racket.
