In a significant anti-drug operation, Bihar STF and Bhojpur police seized over 2 kilograms of heroin valued at Rs 5 crore on the international black market. The raid also led to the arrest of two alleged drug peddlers.
According to ASP and Ara Sadar SDPO Parichay Kumar, police received intelligence on Friday evening about heroin being smuggled from Ghazipur (UP) to Ara. Acting on this tip-off, a joint police team intercepted a car in the Ara Nawada police station area, recovering approximately 1 kilogram of heroin and arresting the two men inside.
Following information from the arrested suspects, the police raided a house, recovering another 1.107 kilograms of heroin. In total, 2.107 kilograms of heroin was seized. Police also recovered Rs 1,27,490 in cash, several passbooks, cheque books, an ATM card, identity documents including PAN and Aadhaar cards, a driving license, the vehicle used, and two mobile phones.
The accused have been identified as Ankush Kumar from Anaith Kurmi locality and Indrajeet Kumar from Anaith Paswan locality, both residents under Ara Nawada police station jurisdiction. The owner of the house where the second batch of heroin was recovered has also been named as an accused.
A case has been registered under the Bihar Narcotics Substances Act (BNS) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Authorities are planning to invoke property attachment laws to seize assets linked to the drug operation.
