Bidhannagar Police have arrested taxi driver Alamgir Molla (33) and tout Manoj Kumar Roy (57) for scamming and threatening popular American vlogger Dustin during his recent trip from Kolkata airport to a Park Street hotel.
The ordeal was first brought to light after Dustin posted a detailed video on his YouTube channel, Meet Dustin, describing how the duo took him on a longer, more expensive route, charging him Rs 800 instead of the usual Rs 550. The journey, which normally takes under an hour, stretched over 100 minutes as he was shifted between taxis—first to a hotel in New Town and then to Park Street.
Following the video and complaint, Bidhannagar Police acted swiftly. Officers spotted Molla and Roy at the airport attempting to scam another passenger, leading to their immediate arrest. Both have been booked under sections related to extortion and criminal conspiracy.
The police released a short video featuring clips from Dustin’s vlog where the tout is heard threatening to “break his bones” in Bengali while demanding more money. The video concludes with images of the arrested duo holding police identification slates.
