Bicholim Police have successfully cracked a cyber fraud case by arresting a habitual offender, Pradeip Kumar Mandal (24), from Jamtara, Jharkhand.
The case came to light after a woman from Sanquelim was defrauded of Rs44,340. The accused contacted her through two mobile numbers, impersonating a Tata Sky official. Under the pretense of recharging her Tata Sky pack, he convinced the victim to share her banking credentials. Subsequently, the accused transferred the amount fraudulently from her bank account.
Pradeip Kumar Mandal is suspected to be involved in over 50 similar cyber frauds across India, targeting unsuspecting victims through impersonation and phishing tactics.
Police have initiated further investigations to uncover the full extent of the fraud network.
