Palladam: A 24-year-old man from Bihar, identified as Bhushankumar, was arrested on Sunday for illegal possession of heroin. Police seized 11 grams of the narcotic during the arrest.
Authorities said Bhushankumar was apprehended based on specific intelligence regarding drug trafficking in the Palladam jurisdiction. Investigation revealed that he procured the heroin from Bihar and had been selling it in Tirupur. He reportedly arrived in Tirupur only a few days ago.
A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Bhushankumar was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
Police confirmed that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale and distribution of narcotics in Tirupur district. Further investigation is underway to determine whether Bhushankumar had any local contacts or was part of a larger drug supply network operating in the region.
