Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh – A major breakthrough has been achieved by Ratlam Police, who arrested a 32-year-old man named Bhura in connection with the Bafna Jewellers theft that occurred on August 21 in Badawada’s Sadar Bazaar.
During the late-night burglary, five unidentified suspects broke into the shop and fled with 28 gold pendants and bowls stored in a plastic box. The value of the stolen goods was estimated at Rs3.68 lakh.
Following the FIR under Section 303(2) BNS at Badawada Police Station, Ratlam SP Amit Kumar formed a special investigation team. The team, led by the station in-charge, reviewed over 100 CCTV recordings, analysed footage from the scene, and used the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) to cross-check records of repeat offenders.
They also examined crime networks and prison visitor logs, eventually identifying the accused.
Acting on technical inputs and tip-offs, police arrested Bhura, a resident of Bhadapipalya in Dewas district’s Barotha area. From him, police recovered:
A plastic box with 20 stamped gold pendants and bowls
A numberless motorcycle used during the theft
The total value of the recovered items is around Rs3.68 lakh.
The four other accused—Vikki alias Lakhan, Rekhabai, Pinu, and Sunita Bai, all residents of Dewas district—are still absconding.
Police confirmed that Bhura has a criminal past, with cases filed under various IPC and Excise Act sections in 2018, 2019, and 2023 at Barotha police station.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining accused, and authorities are confident about more arrests soon.
