In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Bhopal Crime Branch arrested two individuals on Wednesday for their involvement in the illegal smuggling of ganja (cannabis). Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a swift operation in the Koh-e-Fiza area, resulting in the seizure of 8.35 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs2 lakh. The accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra, with the Crime Branch team, led by Inspector Ashok Maravi, actively monitoring the city’s illegal drug trade. On Wednesday, following reliable intelligence, the police received information that two suspects were near the VIP Guest House in Koh-e-Fiza, carrying backpacks filled with ganja, intending to sell the illegal substance.
Police teams promptly arrived at the location and apprehended two individuals who matched the descriptions provided in the tip-off. Upon inspecting their backpacks, the officers found leafy and bud-like substances, which were later confirmed to be ganja. The suspects confessed to possessing the drug for sale and were immediately arrested.
The arrested suspects were identified as Sachin Kuchbandiya, 20, a laborer from Surkhi, Sagar, currently residing in Sukhi Sewania, Bhopal, and Nikhil Jaiswal, 22, a water seller on trains from Chhola, Bhopal.
