Bhojpur police have arrested 10 more criminals involved in the high-profile robbery of jewellery worth Rs 10.09 crore from a popular showroom in Ara on March 10. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to 15.
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Raj announced on Sunday that the new suspects were apprehended and that a production warrant (PW) has been issued for two key accused currently lodged in a West Bengal jail, who are believed to be the masterminds behind the daring heist.
The arrested individuals include Amit Kumar, Sumit Kumar, Gaurav Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Md Chand Alam, Nitin Kumar, Pritam Kumar, Himanshu Kumar, Abhimanyu — all residents of Vaishali district — and Suraj Mandal from Araria district.
During the arrests, police seized four gold biscuits, two gold chains, a bracelet, a gold ring, a pistol, two live cartridges, a car, and seven cellphones.
Earlier, five criminals — Vishal Gupta, Kunal Kumar (Saran district), Suraj Singh, Vishal Singh (Bhojpur district), and Gautam Kumar (Vaishali district) — had been arrested, with two out of three bags of stolen jewellery recovered.
Police suspect that Chandan alias Prince from Vaishali district and Sheru Singh from Buxar district, both currently in jail in West Bengal, are the masterminds behind the robbery.
Investigation continues as authorities work to recover the remaining loot and apprehend all involved.
