In a significant operation against drug trafficking, Betnoti Police successfully uncovered a major contraband racket and seized a large shipment of CODILUS-T cough syrup being smuggled on NH-18 near Thana Chhaka. Three individuals were arrested during the bust, which also resulted in the confiscation of 839 bottles of the cough syrup valued at Rs. 1.41 lakh, along with three mobile phones, cash amounting to Rs. 839, and an Innova car used for transporting the contraband.

The cough syrup, which contains Codeine, a narcotic drug and psychotropic substance, was being transported illegally from Balasore to Baripada. Acting on reliable intelligence, the police team, led by IIC Inspector Sasmita Mahanta, intercepted and searched the vehicle, discovering seven cartons filled with the contraband.
The three detained individuals were unable to provide any valid documentation or licenses for the possession and transportation of the cough syrup, confirming the illegal nature of the materials. A case has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing. The seized materials were handed over to the Tehsildar and Drugs Inspector, who arrived at the scene as per police request.
