Two Macclesfield men, Benjamin Preece and Ashley Whittaker, were arrested on Sunday, February 9, by Cheshire Police officers. The arrests followed a report of shoplifting at the B&M store on Exchange Street, where CCTV footage alerted authorities to the crime.
The men, aged 43 and 41, were accused of stealing a significant amount of laundry detergent. Preece, from Horseshoe Drive, and Whittaker, from Churchside, were charged with theft from a shop. Additionally, Whittaker faces a charge of breaching a criminal behavior order.
The two have been remanded in custody and are set to appear before Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, February 10.
