Bengaluru Police Bust ATM Theft Gang Inspired by ‘Lucky Bhaskar’

by Ananya Mehta

In a dramatic turn of events in Bengaluru, the Mahalakshmi Layout Police have busted a six-member gang involved in an ATM theft scheme inspired by the 2023 heist thriller ‘Lucky Bhaskar’. The suspects, employees of Secure Value Private Limited, a cash management company, were caught siphoning off cash meant for ATM replenishment.

The arrested gang members—Shivu, Sameer, Manohar, Girish, Jaggesh, and Jaswanth—held key positions as cash officers and ATM maintenance staff. Instead of replenishing ATMs with the assigned funds, they pocketed large sums of money and tried to cover up their actions by refilling shortfalls from other ATMs. Over time, they managed to steal Rs 43.76 lakh before an internal audit flagged discrepancies. This triggered an investigation, ultimately leading to their arrest.

In total, police recovered Rs 52 lakh in stolen cash from the gang.
