Bengaluru police have arrested Sanjeev Kumar Mandal, a 45-year-old Head of Department (HOD) at a reputed private college, following allegations of sexual harassment. The accused is said to have targeted a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) student by offering academic help and promising to improve her attendance.
Sources reveal that Mandal invited the student to his residence on the pretext of conducting “special classes.” He reportedly gained the trust of the student’s family by speaking with her mother beforehand. On September 25, when the student visited Mandal’s home, she noticed the absence of his family members.
The complainant alleges that Mandal misbehaved with her during the meeting and offered better marks and attendance in exchange for complying with his advances. The student filed a formal complaint at the Tilaknagar Police Station two days ago, which led to Mandal’s arrest.
He has been charged under relevant sexual harassment laws, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging students to report such incidents and seek help promptly.
