The Bengaluru Police on Thursday arrested a 35-year-old man who allegedly murdered his wife and then tried to stage the death as an accidental electrocution at their residence in the city.

The accused, Prashanth Kammar, a daily wage labourer from Ballari, lived with his wife Reshma H (32) in Hebbagodi, southeast Bengaluru. The couple had been married for nine months, police said.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on October 15, when Kammar allegedly killed Reshma during a domestic altercation and later attempted to pass it off as a bathing accident caused by electrocution.

Police became suspicious due to inconsistencies in his statement and the post-mortem findings, which confirmed signs of assault. Kammar was subsequently arrested and charged with murder under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
