Bath Man Terry Long III Arrested for Welfare Fraud

Charged with multiple felony counts including theft

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. — Sheriff Jim Allard reports the arrest of 24-year-old Terry Long III of Bath on several felony charges tied to welfare fraud and theft.

Investigators say Long submitted false documents to the Steuben County Department of Social Services between May 27 and July 31, 2025, unlawfully receiving $1,039 in benefits.

He now faces charges including offering a false instrument for filing, falsifying business records, welfare fraud, and grand larceny, all class E felonies.

Long was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Bath Court.

Sheriff Allard expressed gratitude to the Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the District Attorney’s Office for their role in the investigation.

Note: Charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
