In a significant drug bust, Bekal Police have arrested Basith (35) of Bovikkana on charges of drug peddling. The arrest followed the interception of a car carrying 30 kg of ganja in Kuniya on the NH (National Highway) on the night of Wednesday.
The police, who were on duty, stopped the vehicle, and while one person managed to flee, Basith was caught and arrested. Along with the arrest, the police seized the car that was being used for smuggling drugs.
Basith has been charged under relevant sections for drug trafficking, and further investigation is underway to identify the individual who managed to escape.
The Bekal Police continue their crackdown on drug trafficking in the region.
