MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Peel Regional Police have arrested a man accused of committing 48 vehicle break-and-enters in Mississauga, authorities said.
Since December 2025, police received numerous reports of vehicle break-ins in the areas of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue, and Regents Terrace. Investigators from 11 Division’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from the BEAR Unit and uniform patrol officers, conducted an extensive investigation.
On January 26, 20-year-old Basil Ass’ad, of no fixed address, was arrested. He has been charged with 48 counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, five counts of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and fraud under $5,000.
None of the allegations have been tested in court. Ass’ad was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
