Bashar Musa Arrested for Alleged Iranian Espionage in Be’er Sheva

22-Year-Old Student Accused of Sabotage and Propaganda for Tehran

Israeli authorities have arrested 22-year-old Bashar Musa, a student at Ben-Gurion University and resident of Deir al-Asad, on charges of espionage linked to Iranian intelligence. According to the Shin Bet and Israel Police, Musa allegedly maintained contact with an Iranian agent over several months and followed instructions to carry out covert operations in southern Israel.

These operations reportedly included scattering nails on a major road in Be’er Sheva to cause vehicular damage and spreading pro-Gaza propaganda online to sow division. Officials say Musa was financially compensated for these acts and motivated by sympathy with Gaza.

The arrest marks a significant development in Israel’s ongoing efforts to disrupt Iranian covert activities within its borders. Musa was detained earlier this month and is now under interrogation as investigations continue.
