HARRISVILLE, W.Va. (WDTV) —
Barry Braun, the owner of XR Events, has been arrested and charged with fraudulent schemes and obtaining money under false pretenses in Ritchie County, West Virginia, according to the Ritchie County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Braun was taken into custody in Minnesota and is being extradited to West Virginia to face the charges.

The arrest follows an investigation that began in September, which reportedly uncovered a pattern of fraudulent activity and deception in Braun’s business dealings involving racing venues and related enterprises.

Authorities have not disclosed full details of the alleged schemes but noted the investigation includes multiple business transactions linked to Braun and XR Events.

In October 2024, Braun hosted a racing event at Pennsboro Speedway, though officials have not confirmed whether that event is directly related to the current charges.

Law enforcement is urging anyone who believes they may have been defrauded or involved in business dealings with Braun to contact the Harrisville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-643-2101.
