LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) — Barbara E. Scott, a 58-year-old woman from Ladson, was arrested and charged with attempted murder and several related offenses after a shooting incident in October 2023.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Peatwood Drive on October 13, 2023. Deputies found a spent brass shell casing on the roadway and spoke to the four victims who were at the residence. They reported that a woman, later identified as Scott, drove up to the home, shot at them with a black firearm, and then attempted a second shot after missing. The victims managed to retreat into the house, avoiding injury.

Although the victims did not know the suspect’s name, they recognized her as a local resident. Investigators later found video footage showing a dark-grey pickup truck turning onto Peatwood Drive followed by a gunshot. The investigation led detectives to match the shell casing to a 9mm pistol recovered from a traffic stop on December 13, 2024, where Scott’s son was the driver.

Scott was arrested on January 7, 2025, and charged with two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging firearms into a dwelling. Her bond was set at $200,000, and she is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

The investigation into the shooting continues, and authorities are working to gather more information regarding the incident.
