Baramulla, Feb 08 (KNS): Baramulla Police on Sunday arrested two alleged narcotics peddlers and recovered a substance suspected to be brown sugar during an anti-drug operation in Tangmarg.
Police from Police Station Tangmarg set up a special checkpoint as part of a targeted strategy to dismantle local narcotics networks. During the operation, two men attempted to flee but were chased and apprehended by officers.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Owais Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Treran, and Shoib Ahmad Khoker, son of Ashraf Khoker, resident of Check Treran. A personal search recovered approximately 8 grams of a substance suspected to be brown sugar.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 03/2026 at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations are ongoing to trace possible supply chains.
Senior police officials emphasized that Baramulla Police remains committed to eradicating drug trafficking and urged the public to continue supporting efforts to maintain a drug-free community.
