In a swift police operation, Bapi Nayak was arrested in connection with the robbery of Mr. Arjit Dash (39) on March 23, 2025, in Adarsha Basti. Dash and his friend, Kalia Nayak (24), were attacked by three assailants—Santosh Kumar Sahu, Bapi Nayak, and Chotu—without any provocation. During the assault, Dash was robbed of his mobile phone and Rs1500 in cash. Despite putting up resistance, Dash was threatened with death before the attackers fled the scene.
Acting on intelligence, police raided Pandapark Basti on March 23, 2025, and apprehended Bapi Nayak. During questioning, Nayak admitted to the robbery, and authorities were able to recover Rs1000 in cash along with the stolen mobile phone. Further investigation is underway to track down the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
Bapi Nayak, a known criminal with a history of narcotics and illegal liquor trade offenses, was previously implicated in cases under the Chandrasekharpur Police Station. His involvement in preparation for dacoity adds to his reputation as a repeat offender.
