In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police arrested Sarif Mondal, a 64-year-old Bangladeshi national, in Coochbehar on Saturday. Mondal, also known by the alias Ali, had illegally entered India from Bangladesh and was engaged in fraudulent activities.

Police revealed that Mondal had obtained multiple Indian identity documents, including an Aadhar card, PAN card, and school and birth certificates, through deceitful means. Investigations indicate that Mondal entered India illegally and traveled to Coochbehar for undisclosed illegal purposes.

A case has been registered at the Coochbehar Kotwali Police Station under the Foreigners Act, and further investigations are underway to uncover the full scope of Mondal’s activities.

This arrest follows a similar case last week where another Bangladeshi national, Rezaul Khan, was arrested for forging government identity documents and facilitating illegal travel for others.
