The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested Bandi Ajay Kumar (25), a resident of Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, in connection with a fake job recruitment scam targeting IT job aspirants across India. He was apprehended in Bangalore for allegedly posting fake job openings in reputed MNCs through Telegram groups.
According to officials, the scam came to light after a victim filed a complaint on February 17, 2025, stating that he had received a job offer via Telegram. After initial interactions and supposed interviews, the victim realized he had been manipulated and cheated.
Following the complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was launched. During the arrest, police recovered a mobile phone, laptop, four bank passbooks, three cheque books, and two debit cards used in the operation.
Police revealed that the accused and his associates contacted victims using WhatsApp calls, internet-based calls, and professional communication styles to build credibility. They even conducted fake interviews and assessments, posing as HR personnel from top companies.
To further enhance the illusion, the fraudsters created fake LinkedIn profiles and used job portals to appear legitimate. Victims were made to believe they were interacting with real recruiters, making the scam harder to detect.
Authorities have urged job seekers to verify offers directly with companies and remain cautious of job messages sent via social media platforms.
