Three UK nationals—JC (37), LE (39), and PA (31)—were arrested by the Bali Regional Police for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs worth approximately 6 billion IDR (368,684 USD) into Bali. The suspects were apprehended on February 1 at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, following a tip-off to customs officers.
During their arrival in Bali, after a layover in Doha, Qatar, customs officers intercepted nearly one kilogram of narcotics. JC’s suitcase was found to contain 637.12 grams of a white powder, believed to be a class 1 drug. LE’s suitcase held seven plastic packages, totaling 443.10 grams of suspected cocaine.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the third suspect, PA, in the Tuban area of Badung district. It was revealed that this was not the first attempt by the trio to smuggle drugs into Bali, as they had tried to traffic narcotics into the region on two previous occasions.
The police continue to investigate the case as part of their ongoing efforts to curb international drug trafficking in Bali.
