A special team of CMBT police arrested Balaji, also known as ‘Kathu Kuthu’ Balaji, a 39-year-old man who had been absconding for nearly three years in connection with the murder of a security guard at Koyambedu bus terminus.
The victim, Thangadurai (48), a security guard from Dharapakkam on Rajaji Salai, was found with severe head injuries at the bus terminus on May 12, 2022, and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Following a complaint lodged by Thangadurai’s wife, Kannagi (42), the CMBT police identified Balaji as the prime suspect through CCTV footage and other technical evidence. Despite being absconding since the incident, authorities successfully tracked him down and arrested him on Friday.
The police stated that further investigation is ongoing to determine if there were other accomplices or connections to the crime.
