In a significant development in the ongoing gold theft investigation, the Basistha Police of Guwahati arrested Mithun Dey, a prominent Bajrang Dal leader from Thelamara near Dhekiajuli, on Thursday night. This arrest has caused shockwaves in Dhekiajuli and nearby areas.

The breakthrough came after the interrogation of Noor, a thief recently apprehended for multiple thefts across Greater Guwahati. Noor’s disclosures led the police to Mithun Dey’s residence in Thelamara. During a search operation, authorities recovered a substantial amount of stolen gold from Dey’s home.

Mithun Dey was immediately taken into custody and is currently being held at the Basistha Police Station. Investigations are underway to ascertain the full extent of his involvement and possible connections to a larger criminal network.

Dey’s arrest has ignited controversy given his association with the Bajrang Dal. Local residents and political observers remain alert as the investigation progresses.
